“You are lying naked on a metal table, you see some strange alien beings with huge eyes, and spindly arms about to dig into your brain with a scapula, or poke up your nose with a metal sick” The aforementioned is a result of a typical hypnotic regression session to access a repressed alien abduction memory!
Well, sorry to disappoint you folks apparently repressed memories are a thing of the past. Research has proved that past life, alien abductions and satanic ritual abuse recall retrieved under hypnosis is false.
Recent research suggests that traumatic experiences are remembered clearly for the rest of our lives, and that the horrors of child abuse do not lurk in the depths of our minds only resurfacing when accessed under hypnosis, on the contrary. In fact, Professor Richard McNally from Harvard University claims that repressed memories are “the most pernicious bit of folklore ever to infect psychology and psychiatry.”
So has the repressed memory syndrome had its day, along with some other 19th century Freudian ideas about the human mind? Some psychologists say no, not always, especially if children are abused under the age of five.
Harvard University wants answers and even takes E.T abductions seriously. Psychologist Richard McNally and his team have been digging into repressed memories in totem for the past six years, and this includes satanic child abuse, and past life reminiscences.
McCally believes that the human mind does create false memories that seem real. He says that once he comes up with enough evidence to prove his theory, he is sure perfectly innocent people whose lives have been ruined by false accusations of satanic ritual abuse and incest will breathe a sigh of relief.
However, trauma and past life therapists are taking a stand against these recent findings, and asserting that repressed memories are real and need to be respected. According to a trauma therapist it would be virtually impossible to “invent” such detail with frightening clarity. In fact the certainty of some alien abductee’s memories convinced Harvard psychiatrist, John Mack, that the data he had heard. “.operated like sulphuric acid on my worldview,”
Roseanne Barr swears by her repressed memories of child abuse which surfaced in a therapeutic context, as did the repressed memories of ex Miss America, Marilyn Van Cerbur, who has joined Rosanne in a public campaign to stop paedophilia worldwide.
Even those who are decrying repressed memories, admit that they could be real if they are corroborated by a third party; however there is no doubt that the mind is capable of twisting the truth, confusing it, even building one fabrication on top of another to create a mish mash of fake “total recall”
However, Joanna T would not agree. She insists that she finally remembered the horrible abuse perpetuated on her by her mother, so horrible that her personality split into three different personalities, during therapy. She claims that if she had recalled the terrible abuse as a young adult she would not have not been able to function so she “forgot” until the horrors were unearthed from her unconscious mind.
Repressed memories could be the cause of dissociative identity disorder. Movies such as the “Three Faces of Eve” and “Me, Myself and Irene” were about individuals with more than one personality. Two or more identities could also be the result of schizophrenia. When a person is severely split into multiple personalities, the handwriting, voice patterns and characteristics of each sub personality are totally different. Such mental states obviously emerge from the unconscious mind, and still need to be explained.
So when a hypnotist takes you back into a past life, and you remember being a Christian torn to shreds by lions in the Coliseum don’t think that you are making it up, you might be, but then again, you might not!
